2019 Engineering Winners Mitch Torok & Ivy Brain
Young Tasmanian Engineers, Ivy Brain from Launceston College, and Mitch Torok from Rosny College won the Engineering section of the 2019 National BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards. These talented cousins shared the first prize of $4,000 and received their award at a gala dinner in Melbourne. Dr Larry Marshall, CSIRO Chief Executive, presented the prize and applauded their collaboration.

As winners of the National Engineering competition, Mitch and Ivy were invited to represent Australia as part of a delegation of six Aussie teens who attended the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix, Arizona where 1800 students from around the world had congregated.
Mitch and Ivy went on to win the Embedded Systems Fourth Award at ISEF, a truly extraordinary achievement. You can hear an interview with them on ABC Radio here.
