There are 17 opportunities for either Teachers or Students to have a great experience through awards. STAT supports excellence in both teaching and learning. Consider either applying yourself or nominating a colleague to take up one or more of the opportunities available.

The Winifred Curtis award for excellence in teaching and/or supporting science education in Tasmania
Attention science educators!
The Science Teachers’ Association of Tasmania (STAT) and the University of Tasmania (UTAS) are calling for AWARD applications from:
Science educators from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in all sectors
Science educators/communicators based in industry (Education Centres, Museums etc.)
2018 DR WINIFRED CURTIS AWARD
This AWARD, presented annually by UTAS and STAT, applauds the efforts of a Tasmanian science educator who is deemed to exhibit the characteristics of renowned scientist and educator, Dr Winifred Curtis, in whose honour the award was inaugurated in 2006. (see attached details).
The AWARD, comprising The Winifred Curtis Medal, $500 in prize money and a certificate will be presented at the dinner of the state conference of the Science Teachers’ Association of Tasmania (CONSTAT 2018), at THE POINT, Burnie on Friday 23rd March. (conference booking details attached).
The winner will be an invited guest on the evening where he/she will be congratulated by an audience of like-minded colleagues
Please consider educators in your midst who stand out in their capacity to engage young people and/or the general public with the joys of Science. If such people exist in your circles, please urge them to accept your nomination so that the science community of Tasmania can applaud their efforts
